Paper swap bits

I have participated in three Paper Swaps so far and i am enjoying the experience immensely.

A clever lady - Lawendula- pairs up people from all over the world, and we send each other an envelope filled with bits and pieces to match the theme. On receiving the material you create mixed-media pieces.

January Paper swap

All these pieces were create from the January paper swap.

I bit the bullet and signed up for the whole year - a paper swap for every month! i am working at my tendency to procrastinate (I have just posted my envelopes for Feb and March!)

I received my envelopes from two ladies in the US last week (only slightly less tardy than I am) and i am loving working with their bits and pieces.

weekend work

I am back in my classroom this morning (Sat.) as we have an open day. the community is invited to visit the school to view our facilities so my art room is uncommonly tidy. I don't do tidy as it doesn't last long and my pupils become decidedly uneasy if things are too ordered!

It is a beautiful, hot, humid day and i can see the boys on the cricket pitch and the Indian Ocean beyond. i must have the best classroom view in the world.

A friend and I run a group called STACA (Sheppie Teens Against Cancer and AIDS). Some of the members are at two shopping malls helping out with the CANSA Shavathon. She is out checking on them and I will go around later to see how they are.

I am so proud to be a part of Sheppie High today. Our ECL (Executive Council of Learners) are doing a sterling job of informing our visitors of the attractions of the school.

I also want to go and check on the exhibition at the SC Mall to see if everything is O.K.

weekend

This has been an exceptionally busy week - more than most. Pierre and I were invited to exhibit our art at a restaurant run by one of my past pupils. the opening was on Wednesday night, and it was a wonderful experience.

It came at just the right time. We had enough work to submit and did not have to rush to get new work out.

we even had our first business card printed (for our art venture)

weekend wisdom

hi all

It is so wonderful to be home for a relaxing weekend. It has been hot beyond description this week - the humidity, of course makes it really bad. Our home is in the forest, so much cooler than school.

We also have the pool to hop into if things get bad.

Hubby, Pierre and I are having an exhibition of our work at Mafioso Restaurant in March. I should be painting instead of writing on my blog!

Oh, and I bought a camera. We were robbed while on holiday in cape Town in December  and our camera was stolen! The P.R. at school had an identical one she hardly ever used, so now I have it and I can take photos again!

Long time no blog!

Hi All

I have been a very tardy girl since November 2010. After a wonderful holiday in Knysna and Cape Town I am inspired to tackle a creative 2011. Hubby Pierre and I have been invited to exhibit our work at "Mafioso", and Italian reataurant in the South Coast Mall. It will be at the end of February. - will keep you posted.
