weekend wisdom

hi all

It is so wonderful to be home for a relaxing weekend. It has been hot beyond description this week - the humidity, of course makes it really bad. Our home is in the forest, so much cooler than school.

We also have the pool to hop into if things get bad.

Hubby, Pierre and I are having an exhibition of our work at Mafioso Restaurant in March. I should be painting instead of writing on my blog!

Oh, and I bought a camera. We were robbed while on holiday in cape Town in December  and our camera was stolen! The P.R. at school had an identical one she hardly ever used, so now I have it and I can take photos again!

Long time no blog!

Hi All

I have been a very tardy girl since November 2010. After a wonderful holiday in Knysna and Cape Town I am inspired to tackle a creative 2011. Hubby Pierre and I have been invited to exhibit our work at "Mafioso", and Italian reataurant in the South Coast Mall. It will be at the end of February. - will keep you posted.

kinetic sculpture creations

these are some of the creations the pupils came up with.

kinetic sculpture

While planning the art camp, I Googled kinetic sculpture and came upon so many interesting concepts. These are some of the examples I found, and then I found structures they could be inspired by.

I took my Grade 11 Visual Art learners to T.O.Strand in Leisure Bay last weekend for an Art Camp.  We did all sorts of creative stuff, the idea to bond and be creative outside of the box.

"Art is the only way to run away without leaving home" - Twyla Tharp

I have been paired with an artist in the USA in a paper exchange project. There is a new theme for every month and the idea is that you post an envelope filled with interesting "papers" which will then be used by your partner in collage work.

The theme for November is postage and mail.
